Maximize Utility

Minimize Frustration

I am obsessed with designing experiences that are not only useful to customers but seamless for employees. My work spans from on-screen interactions to complex services. I have worked on projects across a range of industries, including telco, automotive, quick-serve restaurants, retail, hospitality, government, non-profit, and pharmaceutical. I also have a background in digital strategy and an MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship.

I’m currently open to part-time freelance work. Because of COVID, remote projects are preferred. If you would like to see additional case studies or work samples, please get in touch

Understand

My favorite part of the design process is finding how I can make someone’s life easier. I want to know what is broken, what doesn’t work, and where time is being wasted. I’m not afraid of the jobs other designers consider unsexy. I even love the ugly, messy problems consumers may never face but employees needlessly struggle with.

Experiment

I believe that sketching, building prototypes, and testing with a variety of potential users will lead to a better product and a smoother launch. Holding expectations loosely and reacting to the data that’s gathered is essential to nurture the necessary insight of assessing a problem and finding solutions.

Build

In my experience, design is more like cooking than baking: you can’t just put the batter in the oven and walk away. You have to taste as you go, and constantly course correct. I’ve been fortunate to work desk-to-desk with developers as they build out projects and these collaborations always led to better results than waterfall projects.

Whitney was a master at defining and understanding requirements in order to develop creative solutions, while also having the client management skills to challenge stakeholders where appropriate.

Her focus was always on the user, and her dedication to creating the best possible experiences in every situation was evident.

She was also a total pleasure to work with, providing excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management to team, as well as much-needed warmth and humor.
